PHD Abstract

Thesis Title: “A Proposed method to measure the cost in light of the timetable and depending on non-financial performance measures in service projects - applied study”. The research aims to measure the cost in the service projects based on the timetable (Time Driven Activity Based Costing) and non-financial performance measures (Balanced ScoreCard). The research employs the inductive and deductive approaches. While the inductive approach has been used to construct and demonstrate the theoretical framework developed by the researcher, the deductive approach has been used to identify a set of pivotal pillars to establish the proposed method. With regard to the applied study, the National Bank of Egypt – Beni Suef Branch has been selected and various data collection tools were employed including observations, interviews and content analysis of the bank files. To accomplish the research objectives, the thesis has been structured as follow: firstly literature review of related research, secondly an overview and evaluation of the Time Driven Activity Based Costing, followed by a discussion of the service projects and how these could be related to the Time Driven Activity Based Costing. Then the thesis proposed a method to measure the Cost based on the Time Driven Activity Based Costing and Balanced ScoreCard in service projects. After that the thesis provides an applied study followed by the conclusion to highlight the research summary, findings and to provide recommendations.
